Governor Kim Reynolds and acting Lt. Governor Adam Gregg made a stop in Pella as part of their Unleashing Opportunity tour.

The two called the visit a continuation of the Condition of the State address Governor Reynolds delivered at the beginning of the 2018 Legislative Session.

Reynolds addressed a wide range of subjects with a crowd of dozens of residents that packed into Smokey Row in Pella, including state tax reform, education spending, STEM, online sales tax, and her vision for the state as she runs for re-election in the upcoming primary in June.

She tells KNIA/KRLS News that Iowans, from her view, are mostly optimistic about the future of the state, and hopes this legislative session will include some of her priorities for Iowa in the coming year.

“There’s a lot of enthusiasm and excitement and I think we’re going to continue to see that grow,” she says. “I look forward to working with legislature this legislative session to address water quality — I hope that’s one of the first bills I get to sign as governor of this state, and really as I said, it’s about jobs, jobs, jobs, and we’re going to help Iowans through the Future Ready Iowa act, so we are working really hard to get that through the legislature,” she says.
