Last week the Knoxville City Council approved first consideration for an amendment to the city code of ordinances pertaining to golf cart and off road vehicle operations.

Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA KRLS News the amendment will require a $25 permit fee for golf carts and off road vehicles as well as require drivers to be at least 18 years of age, provide proof of insurance and to have the vehicle inspected. He says the ordinance language matches golf cart requirements to the requirements already established for Utility Vehicles. Adams says the city reviewed the ordinance after receiving complaints and feedback from residents.
