As a part of Monday’s Knoxville City Council meeting the council voted to approve a purchase agreement with the Knoxville School District for East Elementary in the amount of $1.

Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News the district deeded the building to the city and for the purchase to be official it had to be sold for $1. Adams says the city is looking into using the building as a city facility or potentially demolishing the building to use the property for development. In March the Knoxville Public Library will use portions of the building as a temporary facility while the expansion construction and renovation begins. The school district will continue to use the rest of the building for storage after the council also agreed to a storage lease agreement with the district to rent the building for $1.
