It could not have gone better for the Knoxville Girls Basketball Squad last night as the Panthers rolled out to a 21 point lead at halftime to win over Centerville last night 71-51, while the boys were victorious on Hall of Fame night 69-58. The games…heard live on AM 1320 and 95.3 KNIA got off to a fast start for the Panthers who build a 30 point lead in the second half before settling for a 20 point win and the South Central Conference title. Coach Jim Uitermarkt told KNIA/KRLS the game plan worked to near perfection. Katie Keitges led a balanced attack with 17 points while Maggie Wilkins scored 14 and Marley McKay got her first career double figure performance with ten. Knoxville is now 15-4 on the season and finish conference play at 11-1. The boys also got out to a sizable lead that grew to 21 before settling for an 11 point win. The boys were balanced as well with R-J Roberts and Ben Wallace scoring 15 points each to lead the Panthers who go to 9-9 on the season and finish conference play at 9-3. The Panthers have some time off as the boys will not play again until next Saturday at Grinnell, while the girls are off until next Monday at Carlisle.
