A Knoxville man was arrested Wednesday following a domestic disturbance after a woman was allegedly choked.

Just after 3 p.m. Wednesday the Knoxville Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call in the 1000 block of North Grant Street. Police found the victim outside of the residence having difficulty catching her breath and speaking. Officers also noticed bleeding wounds on the victim’s face, neck and hands. The victim told police that 53-year-old Kevin Sandrock of Knoxville had woken up and become angry with her and began yelling at her. She told police that Sandrock hit her several times in the face, headbutted her, grabbed her by the throat and squeezed until she could not breathe. She told police that it had felt as if he was going to rip her throat out. She then fell to the ground at which time Sandrock told her to stay there and look at the ground. The victim was able to escape the house once Sandrock was done yelling at her and call 911. The victim also stated on the 911 call that Sandrock had allegedly threatened to cut her up in little bits. Sandrock was arrested and charged with domestic assault impeding breathing/blood flow, a class D felony, as well as violation of a restraining order.
