The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday.

The board held a public hearing regarding the sale of East Elementary to the City of Knoxville. They approved a resolution for a conveyance of real property pertaining to East Elementary as well as the purchase agreement for the property from the City of Knoxville for $1. The board also approved a lease agreement for $1 to be spent to lease portions of the building from the City of Knoxville to be used as storage.

In addition, they received a presentation from a representative with Teachers on Call. After a lengthy discussion, the boarded voted 3-2 to deny a partnership with Teachers on Call. Teachers on Call would have been used to help recruit qualified substitutes to help fill shortages when needed by the district.

The board denied an early retirement request from David Smith due to not qualifying for the program. They also approved the term sheet for financing Physical Plant and Equipment Levy Bonds as well as the Bond Counsel Engagement Agreement pertaining to the Proposition A tennis courts and basketball court project. They approved a student fundraiser request from the Knoxville FFA to help raise $10,000 to package 50,000 meals for Meals From the Heartland. The board also conducted a work session with Harry Heiligenthal from Iowa Association of School Boards.
