During Monday’s Knoxville School Board meeting a discussion pertaining to Teachers on Call and a potential partnership with the district to provide services for the district’s substitute staffing needs was held.

According to Knoxville School Superintendent Cassi Pearson, Teachers on Call is a branch of Kelly Temp Services which would help with recruiting qualified substitutes to help fill shortages when needed by the district. Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News if the school board agreed to use the program it wouldn’t be a drastic change. Pearson says the district could continue to find substitutes without the program but she wanted to inform the board and give them an opportunity to decide if it’s something the district wanted to try. According to a cost analysis the school district could potential save close to $22,000 with the program, but Business Manager Craig Mobley says the savings could be close to even when other factors are considered. The discussion was tabled by the board until the next school board meeting on January 22nd.
