The 10th Annual Coaches vs Cancer event is being held today at the Knoxville High School.

Today’s event includes a silent auction, alumni basketball games, varsity basketball games against Chariton as well as a survivor’s ceremony to be held between the varsity games. This year organizers of the event have established a goal of $57,000 which would give Knoxville a total of $500,000 raised towards cancer research over the past ten years. Co-organizer of the event Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS News it’s hard to believe that Knoxville and the surrounding communities have been able to raise that much money but he is confident they can reach their goal. The KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio will be at the event all day long broadcasting live, playing music, and making announcements.
