Representative Greg Heartsill and Senator Amy Sinclair held their first of three scheduled office hours at the Marion County Courthouse Friday.

Senator Sinclair tells KNIA/KRLS News some of the issues that were addressed during the office hours include; consumer protection related to utilities, IPERS, and eminent domain. Sinclair says they were also able to give budget information to the local veterans affairs office as well as help anyone who was able to come in and have a conversation with them. Representative Heartsill tells KNIA/KRLS News as far as the Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS) is concerned, he anticipates no changes. Heartsill says the pension committee has given several statements to which they will not be touching IPERS except to make sure it is solvent to its beneficiaries. The legislators will hold their next two office hours at Marion County Courthouse from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, February 9th and March 9th.
