A Marion County Food Coalition Meeting will be held Friday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the Marion County Public Health Department.

The coalition was established in November by local food stakeholders as a way to help fight food insecurity in Marion County. Friday’s meeting is also open to anyone who is employed by a food pantry, volunteers who serve at a food pantry, is part of a school lunch or backpack program, or has a vested interest in food distribution throughout Marion County. Larissa Van Donselaar with Maron County Public Health estimates close to 25 percent of Marion County residents are food insecure which means they don’t know where their next meal will come from on a daily basis.
