The Cubs of Nevada came away from their road trip to Monroe last night with a sweep of the host Mustangs, with the girls winning 56-41 and the boys 71-54.

An odd scoring night for the Mustang boys, one that head coach Fred Lorensen struggled to understand. The Mustangs had previously dispatched the Cubs easily 66-42 on their home court, and started off this game hot leading after the first quarter 18-12. The next two quarters were disastrous for the Mustangs, as the Cubs outscored them 41-9 and had a 51-27 lead going into the 4th. PCM made a small comeback, taking the 4th quarter 27-18, but it was not enough to get the win. Andrew Van Ryswyk had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Reed Worth had 12 points.

On the girls side the bigger Cubs squad dominated the boards, and combined with a poor shooting night from the Mustangs, led to the 15 point loss. Regan Freland scored 22 points, while Kate McCarthy had 5 rebounds. The boys fall to 12-5, the girls to 6-11, and both teams will next play tomorrow hosting South Tama.
