Organizations in Marion County have come together to form a Suicide Prevention Task Force with a goal to decrease suicides by 100 percent in Marion County.

The task force will hold a Suicide Prevention Town Hall Meeting in Knoxville on Thursday, January 25th from 6:30 to 8 PM at the Knoxville High School Media Center. Larissa Van Donselaar with Marion County Public Health tells KNIA/KRLS News the task force came about because of the need in the area. Van Donselaar says Marion County has seen quite a few suicides that have impacted everyone. She says as other groups communicated between each other about the problem the need for a task force and town hall meeting was established to help say enough is enough. The task force is asking residents to attend the meeting to find out more information on how they can be involved in the training of work teams as well as being a part of the communications work team and learning more about prevention and planning.
