The Pella City Council held a special meeting Tuesday to continue work on expanding housing in the community.

They approved a resolution that offers the City of Pella’s support and clarifies items they intend to include in a development agreement with Harvest Investments, LLC for a proposed housing cooperative in Bos Landen. The project was highlighted as part of the Southwest Urban Renewal Area. Proposed development includes a 39-unit housing cooperative located near the Bos Landen clubhouse. While the resolution isn’t formally binding, it does provide guidance for how the council plans to proceed, which includes the adoption of tax increment financing to fund approximately $1 million in infrastructure costs and the rezoning of the land from agriculture to residential.

Also at the meeting, the council heard a budget proposal for converting Neil Drive and 218th Place to hard surface near Shady Brook, and then in policy and planning, considered options for extending a bike trail to Vermeer Corporation and discussed the redevelopment of the Oskaloosa Street corridor.
