The Pella City Council passed a series of resolutions and ordinances to approve the Southwest Urban Renewal Area at their meeting Tuesday.

A development agreement with Bos Ridge LLC passed, as did a tax increment financing extension with the Pella School Board and Marion County Board of Supervisors to help reimburse the developer for infrastructure costs. Overall, the estimated value of the entire subdivision would be $19 million, and a portion of the property tax collected over the 15-year tax increment financing plan would reimburse the developer for infrastructure costs and towards assistance for low-to-moderate income homeowners.

The Urban Renewal Area approved would add up to 45 new homes in the Bos Landen area just off of Highway T-15, the Fairway Meadows townhouse project, and also allows for potential expansion, including a 30 to 40 unit retirement cooperative south of the clubhouse. A second reading of an ordinance to rezone that land from agriculture to residential also passed.
