After suffering a pair of defeats to Pride of Iowa Conference opponents last week, the Pleasantville Trojan basketball teams stepped out of conference and started off their grueling four game week on the right foot last night sweeping Clarke at home, the girls winning 46-33, the boys 66-45.
The girls overpowered the four win-Indians squad, getting a lead and holding on until the final buzzer. Kelsee Van Haalen once again lit up the scoreboard with a 25 point night, and she stands just six away from reaching 1,000 career points. Jordan Dursky scored 6 points to go along with 6 blocks, Sydnee McKinney had 4 points and 11 rebounds, and Taylor Foley and Abby DeJoode each had 4 points.
On the boys side, the Trojans broke out of their offensive shell, scoring over 60 points for just the third time this season. Owen Worthington led the squad on the scoresheet with 21 points, Kyle Amendt (The letter “A” – Meant) scored 18, and Devon Dursky put in 14.
The girls improve to 6-9, the boys t0\o 10-4, and both teams won’t have long to rest as they take on I-35 in a conference tilt tonight, and can be heard live on our KNIA3 stream via kniakrls.com. Nathan Sage and Tom Wilkins will be on the play-by-play, with pregame coverage starting at 5:45.
