The Simpson Storm men’s and women’s basketball teams split their Iowa Conference matchups against Wartburg Saturday, with the men victorious 86-81 over the Knights, while the women fell 81-66.

Conor Riordan had 27 points as the Storm pulled away late in the second half to secure the victory despite foul trouble to leading scorer Sam Amsbaugh. The Storm women just couldn’t keep up with the 2nd ranked Knights, as a big second quarter run gave Wartburg a lead they would not relinquish. The Storm got the lead down to 11 points on two separate occasions, but couldn’t convert in crunch time. Tori Hazard led the Storm with 17 points. Both teams will next play rival Central on the road in Pella next Wednesday.
