The Iowa High School Athletic Association has released the preliminary non-district opponents for football teams around the state for all 11-player classes.

Unlike in season’s past, non-district games will count towards a team’s RPI, which will determine playoff teams up to 16 beyond district champions.

Pella’s non district lineup includes numerous familiar foes, as former district opponents Norwalk and Carlisle made the list, as did Little Hawkeye Conference rival DCG. Mt. Pleasant is a relative newcomer for the Dutch, as they have only met up four times, with the last game in 2011.

Knoxville is also tapping into the South Central Conference with Centerville and Chariton. Additionally, they also have Saydel and Fairfield lined up.

Pella Christian looks to run an effective gauntlet in their non-district schedule, squaring up with defending 1A state champions Van Meter and runners-up Regina, who knocked the Eagles out of the playoffs each of the last two years. They will also carry on the traditional rivalry with PCM and add Little Hawkeye Conference foe Oskaloosa.

Pleasantville, who shares a district with the Eagles, takes on area opponents Lynnville-Sully and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, as well as Albia and Earlham.

PCM, on top of Pella Christian, also tacks on fellow Jasper County school Newton, as well as West Marshall and Roland-Story.

All four non-district games will be played in the first four weeks of the season, followed by district action. Home and away opponents have not been determined, and nine-game schedules for Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas in 8-player have not been released. These are subject to change.
