The Knoxville City Council will meet in regular session today.

The council will hold a public hearing to discuss the fiscal year 2018-2019 city budget as well as consider a resolution to adopt the budget. They will also hold a public hearing to discuss the Knoxville Public Library expansion project as well as consider a resolution to approve preliminary plans and estimate of costs for the project. The council will hold a third public hearing to discuss a commercial development site plan for 861 Bell Avenue which is the site of a proposed Dollar Tree store. They will discuss and take possible action regarding a citizen’s request to waive a sewer charge. The council will consider a resolution to adopt the 2018-2019 budget for the Knoxville Water Works. They will consider a resolution to set a date for the sale of general obligation corporate purpose bonds as well as consider the purchase of a fence at 706 West Madison to secure a permanent easement for the Competine Creek Trail Project. The council will consider the approval of a contract for water reclamation facility lab testing as well as consider approval of a union labor contract between the city and the Public Professional and Maintenance Employees, Local 2003. They will give third consideration to an amendment to the city code of ordinance pertaining to golf cart and off-road vehicle operations in the city and will also give third consideration to add a new chapter to the city code of ordinance regarding the use of golf carts and utility trail vehicles on city streets. The council will set a public hearing for Monday, March 5th to discuss approval of a contract for the 2018 street improvements project. The meeting will begin at 6:15 p.m. inside the Municipal Building Council Chambers.
