The Knoxville School Board on Monday approved a bid for the tennis and basketball court project for $1,065,000 from the Elder Corporation of Des Moines.

Superintendent Cassi Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News the school board was pleased to find out the bid was close to $200,000 under the engineers original estimated cost for the project. Pearson says residents in Knoxville can expect to see construction begin when the snow melts and expects demolition at the site to begin March 1st through the 15th with the project to be completed by June. The eight tennis courts and one basketball court project was approved by the voters of Knoxville during the school board elections on September 12th by a 1,018 to 188 vote.
