The name of the victim in the early morning fire Sunday has been released.

At about 12:21 a.m. Sunday, Knoxville Police and Fire & Rescue Departments were called to the 200 block of Terrace Lane for a report of a structure fire. Charlene Selmyhr, 70, of Knoxville may have perished as a result of the early morning fire, but as burns were not involved, the cause of death is unknown.

She was transported to Knoxville Hospital & Clinics by Knoxville Fire & Rescue after becoming unresponsive in a police car while trying to stay out of the weather while crews battled the fire. In addition to Knoxville Fire and Rescue, units from Knoxville Township Fire, Pella City Fire, and Pella Community Ambulance were called for assistance.

The Marion County Attorney’s Office, Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office, Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office, Marion County Medical Examiner’s Office, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation were all contacted to assist in the investigation. The Red Cross was called to assist others living in the home.
