Pella Christian opened last night’s Class 2A Region 2 girls basketball quarterfinal against East Marshall on a 14-0 run and the Eagles won going away, 64-17, in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Kaley Wilson scored 15 points, Morgan Fopma added 13 and Isabella Baugh had a 10-point 13-rebound double-double in what coach Kevin Van Maanen deemed a complete team victory.

“Wilson played great tonight at the start, making some big shots early. Mo and Bella were great inside all night with their activity. Shooting the ball, rebounding the basketball, they created a lot of mismatches inside for them tonight. I thought all our guards played really well, Mary Kate and Huisman and Mara. Even Lizzy and Avery off the bench. They all played solid, and I thought our defense was great all night.”

The Eagles are now 12-10 on the season and they’ll head to Eddyville on Friday night for the regional semifinals against Pekin. The Panthers beat Alburnett last night 61-34.
