The Pella City Council has approved the first reading of a planned unit development agreement that would bring unique townhouses near the downtown area.

City Administrator Mike Nardini tells KNIA/KRLS News the council is reviewing a rezoning request from 402 to 410 Franklin Street that would add six units to the lots, creating a unique townhouse project with Dutch architecture.

Nardini says one of the council’s main priorities over the next two years is to expand housing developments in the community, and the proposed townhouses will fit well with their proximity to the city’s downtown district.
