The board received two bids for the Marion County Care Facility and farm ground. One bid was for $251,000 and the second was for $590,000. After a closed session the board determined there will no longer be a live auction for the property because none of the bids met the boards pre-established threshold of $800,000. The board will now sell the property at its discretion with board member Craig Agan authorized to negotiate on behalf of the board. They received a presentation from City Administrator Joe Mrstik regarding the City of Pleasantville’s Jasper Street Project. The city of Pleasantville is asking the board for $720,000 in assistance, which equates to $48,000 a year for 15 years. The board will review the project and address it during their second scheduled meeting in March. They held a public hearing on a proposed ordinance to rezone a property owned by Anthony Vermeer and occupied by Maxim Materials from A-1 to M-2. The board approved the ordinance to rezone the property as well as approved a site plan request from property owner Vermeer. They held a discussion for a property abatement project at 1352 92nd Avenue in Knoxville and agreed to revisit the discussion at a later date. The board received a Secondary Road Department presentation regarding the 2017 Secondary Road Departments four-day work week and agreed to continue the program for 2018. They established the 2018 income guidelines for determination of eligibility assistance in Marion County for Veterans Affairs and general assistance.
