Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars boy’s basketball squads will open up class 1A district on the road tonight. The Saints will travel to Madrid to play the host Tigers. Melcher-Dallas has had a good season going 11-7 this season and has two double figure scorers in Ethan Harrington and Blaise Cooper. Madrid is 14-7 on the season and finished third in the West Central Conference. Twin Cedars has an unenviable task of taking on Bluegrass Conference regular season and tournament champion Ankeny Christian. The Eagles have put up 75 points per game while giving up only 43. Sabers Coach Troy Pearson knows his team is a decided underdog, and hopes his guys can play lose and not worry about the opponent. Both Melcher-Dallas and Twin Cedars games are scheduled to start at eight.
