Coach Ryun Ferrell used 12 different Central College men’s tennis players to polish off Aurora University 9-0 on Thursday.

With Central (7-7) on spring break, Ferrell was able to bring enough players to use six in singles and the other six in doubles. The Spartans were no match for the depth of the Dutch. Usually the No. 3 doubles team, seniors Jimmy Cunningham and Scott Wilson moved their season record to 6-2 with an 8-3 victory in the No. 1 slot. In a rescheduled contest, Central will host Morningside College on Friday, March 24 at 4 p.m.

Coming up one point shy of sweeping all three doubles matches in shutout fashion, the Central College women’s tennis team rolled past Aurora University 9-0 Thursday.
Central (10-2) swept Aurora (2-14) in the team’s second match of the spring season, propelled by a strong start in the doubles. The Dutch beat Grand View University 5-4 on March 2.

“We looked a lot better than we did against Grand View,” coach Ryun Ferrell said. “We were able to get that first match out of the way and we looked a lot more relaxed. We seemed to be more comfortable in what we were doing and what we wanted to accomplish.

The Dutch will welcome Northwestern College for a match next Saturday, March 24 at 9 a.m.
