Pella Christian’s Kade Vander Molen is heading to a Junior College baseball powerhouse.

The senior will play baseball at Iowa Western next spring. He tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the program’s overall success with both winning and developing players for additional success were the biggest reasons for his move.

“Their unmatched success at the JUCO level throughout the midwest, they head to the JUCO World Series, and they rip out 10 to 12 division one players every year, so that’s what led to my decision.”

The Reivers won NCJAA championships in (2010, 2012, 2014) and are a regular at the JUCO World Series. After batting .289 as a freshman year regular, Vander Molen has battled injury and illness each of the past few seasons, but was a big contributor both offensively and defensively upon a late season return last summer, hitting .392 with 10 runs scored in the final eight games of 2017. He says he hopes to show what he’s capable of with the Eagles this year at full health.
