A key reason for Knoxville Girls Basketball turnaround from just eight wins last year, to 16 this season was at the free throw line. In the 2016/2017 season, the Panthers shot just 48% from the line, dead last in the South Central Conference and one of the worst percentages in all of 4A. This season, Knoxville was nearly 61% from the line, which was third in the conference and was around midpack in class 4A. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, while a 13% jump is great, he knows they can be even better from the line next year. Uitermarkt adds better free throw shooting helps win games, and helps in individual scoring average.
