A key reason for Knoxville Girls Basketball turnaround from just eight wins last year, to 16 this season was at the free throw line. In the 2016/2017 season, the Panthers shot just 48% from the line, dead last in the South Central Conference and one of the worst percentages in all of 4A. This season…Knoxville was nearly 61% from the line, which was third in the conference and was around midpack in class 4A. Coach Jim Uitermarkt tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, while a 13-percent jump is great, he knows they can be even better from the line next year. He points out as an example, Indianola’s perfect night from the line in the state quarterfinals. Uitermarkt adds better free throw shooting helps win games, and helps in individual scoring average.
