National Weather Service radar on 3-7-17

Next week, the National Weather Service is reminding all residents to prepare for the severe weather that comes with spring and summer.

The annual statewide tornado drill is Wednesday, March 28th at 10 a.m., right in the middle of Iowa Severe Weather Awareness week.

Warning Coordination Meteorologist Kelsey Angle with the National Weather Service tells KNIA/KRLS News everyone should review their safety plans and protocols for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.

KNIA/KRLS is broadcasting a special program about how we cover severe weather during the statewide tornado drill Wednesday the 28th at 10 a.m., which includes interviews with local and state officials about the different aspects of severe weather and how to keep you and your families safe. KNIA/KRLS is on the air with live coverage anytime a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued in any portion of Marion County, with backup generators that ensure we stay on-the-air if the power goes out.
