The Knoxville Chamber of Commerce held their annual Meeting and Membership Drive at the Grand Theater in Knoxville yesterday evening.

The chamber announced a rebranding project, and that chamber board vice president Hannah Vander Veer was hired as the new executive director of the chamber. Board President Megan Mckay tells KNIA/KRLS News the chamber hired Vander Veer because they were looking for someone with not only the education and experience required to handle such a job, but someone local who was committed to making Knoxville a better place.

The Matthew C. Job Pride in Knoxville award was presented to the organizers of the Knoxville Coaches vs Cancer event and Knoxville Cancer Relay, Jim and Angie Uitermarkt, Tyler Pearson, and Barb Bacon. The award is sponsored by the Job family and Iowa State Savings Bank. Hannah Vander Veer tells KNIA/KRLS News the coaches vs cancer event was chosen for this years award because the chamber really wanted to emphasize a commitment to a “we is better than the I” attitude and with the recent $500,000 milestone passed by the coaches vs cancer event it was no contest as to who would win.
