The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday.

The council held an open hearing on the 2018 Streets Improvement Project, as well as approved a resolution approving contract, bonds and certificate of insurance for the project. The council also approved the public match on the 3M expansion project, and approved first consideration of an ordinance to vacate an alley located at 309 N First St, approved a resolution authorizing and approving a loan agreement for corporate purpose bonds.

The council also approved the hiring of 571 Polson Developments LLC to propose solutions on how to manage the property including the unused VA hospital and grounds, set a public hearing for the 2018 Sidewalk Project for March 19th, approved a resolution on preliminary plans for the Young’s Park Improvement Project, and agreed to a six-month trial on different hours for Knoxville City Hall. The new City Hall hours will be Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. and closed on Fridays.

Only City Hall employees will be affected by the change, and City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News he has had previous experience with the experiment in Arizona where it was met with a 90% approval rate from residents. The new staff hours will go into effect April 2nd.
