Bidding began on the Knoxville Library Expansion Project at Knoxville City Hall yesterday as construction companies vied for the contract.

Architects from FEH Design opened the prospective bids to review them, which saw seven separate companies apply with bids

Koester Construction – $3,450,000
Christner Contracting Inc. – $3,000,000
Edge Contracting – $3,660,000
Core Structural Services – $3,428,000
Lansink Construction – $3,485,000
Ball Team Construction LLC – $3,849,000

Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News the city and library board was looking to make sure each company had the numbers they were looking for and was bonded and insured. FEH will make a recommendation to the library board, which will in turn make their recommendation to the Knoxville City Council, which will vote on the bid during their next meeting. Adams went on to say that he was happy with not only the number of bids they got but with the prices on them as well, and that the city has recently benefited from a competitive market.
