Anyone with travel plans may have difficulty if they are heading north and east of Marion County today.

According to the National Weather Service, a late-season blast of snow is expected to dump anywhere between four inches to a foot of snow in the northeast half of the state by the late evening. In Marion County and South Central Iowa, snow and sleet are expected through the early evening, with a trace (southwest of Knoxville) up to an three inches possible (northeast of Highway 163). Winds are expected to become sustained near 15 MPH, with gusts up to 25 MPH possible.

Numerous tow bans are in place along I-80, I-35, and numerous counties north and east of the the region, however, none are active locally.
