The outdoor track season began for three local track teams at the Pella Christian boys home meet Tuesday night.

The Eagles boys were tops among the five teams, scoring 100 points, with Pleasantville edging out Knoxville for third place by half a point, with the Trojans racking up 69 team points and the Panthers at 68.5.

Pella Christian had numerous first place finishes, including Noah Treimer in the 200 meters (23.01), beating out Pleasantville’s Thomas Ragan II and Devon Flesher who finished 2-3. Alex Veenstra also brought home a first place finish in the 400 meter dash, as did their 4×200 relay team, beating 2nd Place Pleasantville by three seconds.

Pleasantville’s Hunter Tyree was tops in the 100 meter dash, outsprinting Ragan and Hayden Vroom of P.C.. The Trojans 4×100 relay team edged the Eagles in that event for a first-place finish.

In the discus, Blake Veenstra of P.C. and Alex Buckley with the Panthers finished 1-2, with Veenstra’s toss of 128-05 just topping Buckley’s 128-04 throw.

Travis Peterson and Buckley of Knoxville were the top two shot put throws, at 45’08.25” and 45’.25” respectively. The Panther’s Gunner Garcia and Jordan Bacon were the top two runners in the mile as well.
