Two moratoriums were approved by the Pella City Council at their meeting Tuesday.

One stops the issuance of house building permits in the Oskaloosa Street corridor from Main to East 3rd until new economic development plans can be drawn up, and the other prevents fireworks sales in the city limits until all revisions to the zoning ordinance are complete.

The council rejected a bid received for the Sunken Garden Windmill Renovation, citing a cost roughly $50,000 more than the engineer’s estimate. Klingner & Associates of Pella recommends rebidding the project after they have the opportunity to identify options to reduce construction costs for potential contractors.
