On a Monday night when most events in Pella did not go on due to cold, the Pella Christian and Des Moines Christian girls soccer teams braved the frigid, stiff wind at Eagle Lane in a contest that went to penalty kicks.

It was the Lions prevailing over their rivals 3-2 on PK after they went through two overtimes tied at one. Head Coach Mike Buchheit tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it was a difficult to lose against a very talented Des Moines Christian team by holding some advantages throughout most of the contest.

The Eagles are 0-1 and return to action Thursday in a boys/girls doubleheader against Centerville.
