The race that kicks off the annual Tulip Time celebration in Pella is celebrating its silver anniversary next week.

Jim Hibma with Crossroads of Pella tells KNIA/KRLS News the Klompen Classic will be held for the 25th time on Wednesday, May 2nd. Hibma says the annual event is a fundraiser for the many services provided by Crossroads.

“The theme this year is Crossing the Finish Line to help others,” he says. “What we’d like to create awareness of is that it takes the village, it takes everybody helping each other and maybe contributing to Crossroads as a way to talk to your neighbor.”

The evening begins with the Kids Classic Fun Run at 6 p.m. along Franklin Street, with the Klompen Classic to start at 7 p.m. on Main Street. Hooded sweatshirts and t-shirts are available for purchase, with race registration costing $25 per participant before May 2nd and $30 on race day.

Registration can be done online.
