The Knoxville Public Library will have a groundbreaking ceremony to begin the physical portion of the renovation and expansion project today.

The ceremony will include a short presentation recognizing those who were instrumental in raising the funds for the project, as well as a surprise announcement of the total funds raised. Board member of the Knoxville Public Library Dave Garcia tells KNIA/KRLS News he and the board are grateful for all the community support they have received from all the way back in 2014 through the bond issue, and continuing on through today has just been amazing.

The renovation and expansion project will see the library double in size with added areas for children’s and teen programing, community space and additional technology resources.The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the Knoxville Library location at 213 East Montgomery St. at 5:30pm. The event will move inside in the case of inclement weather.
