After facing concerns from parents over classroom disruptions in the elementary schools, the Knoxville Community School District has formed a task force comprised of parents, teachers, and staff to help solve the problem.

A meeting in March saw over 50 people attend to help understand the difficulties of solving the issue, with teachers and staff attending mental health training over spring break. Superintendent Cassi Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News it has been a collective effort and a lot of work, but progress is being made and she has no doubt that a stronger difference will be made in the future because of the engagement that she is seeing today. The teachers and staff members who did not receive training over spring break will take a class in June.
