For the first time in 2018 the PCM boys’ golf team hit the links in Monroe and placed third out of eight teams in the home meet.

The Mustangs nabbed third with 327 strokes in the 18-hole meet while Des Moines Christian took home the title with 318. Fifth place finisher Noah Lanphier led the Mustangs with an 80. Dayton Boell was right behind with 81 and Andrew Van Ryswyk with 82. Other scoring includes Reed Worth with 84 and Elijah Sperfslage with 84. Despite another top three finish, head coach Matt Rider tells KNIA/KRLS Sports there is room for improvement. He notes that Des Moines Christian will be a top competitor at the district meet and they will have to play better if they want to top the Lions.

Pella Christian was also in attendance placing eighth with 471 strokes. Cole Webster led the way with a 95. Joe Park shot a 113, Jared De Vries with 119, and Jaren De Bruin with 144.

The Mustangs will be back in action Thursday at Moravia and the Eagles head to Oskaloosa today.
