The Pella boys track team won the overall title at the Grinnell Relays.
Pella earned first place finishes from: Nick DeJong, Shot Put; Kody Huisman, Discus; Shuttle Hurdle Relay; Tony Schmitz-400m; Jordan Buma-110 Hurdles; Avery VanZee-200m; Thomas Gauley-1600m, and 4×400 relay.
The Lady Dutch initally fell by three points to Southeast Polk in the girls meet at Grinnell, but a scoring error included a JV time, so Pella was declared the meet champions this monring. Pella scored 164 points, with top finishes for Emily Vos-100 m, Caroline McMartin-1600m, Kaeleigh DeWaard-shotput, and a 1-2 finish by Emily Holterhaus and Elsie Thoreson in the 400 meter hurdles with six-one hundredths of a second separating them. The 4×100, 4×200, and Sprint Medley relays were also winners.
Both teams are sending athletes to the Drake Relays this week, with the rest of the athletes staying at Pella High School for a home track meet Thursday. The Lady Dutch are contesting the final results, believing a JV meet counted four points for SE Polk.
