The Pella Christian girls soccer team is playing the 2018 season in honor of the late Coach Pete Andreas, who passed away this winter. One of his mottos was “defense travels”, and the Eagles proved that to be true last night by pitching a shutout in a 1-0 upset victory over #4 North Polk.

The only goal of the game came in the 36th minute when sophomore midfielder Annika Terpstra was awarded a free kick just outside the penalty box. The kick was lasered at the near post, and as a Comet defender tried to react, an own goal put Pella Christian on the board.

It’s the first time in program history that the Eagles have beaten North Polk, and in doing so they improve to 2-2 on the season. Up next is a home match against Norwalk on Tuesday night.
