Pella won the championship of the Knoxville Boys Golf Invitational Saturday at Pine Knolls Course. The Little Dutch scored a 308, six shots better than Grinnell for their best score of the season. PCM came in third tied with the host Panthers at 318, and Pella Christian was scored in eighth with a 490. Blaise Winegardner led Pella with a +2 72, good enough for third place overall. PCM was led by Noah Lamphier, who shot a 76, Knoxville was led by Tyler Vaske with a 72, and Pella Christian was led by Cole Webster, who shot a 99.

Eagles Head Coach Joel Rietema tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, “There were flashes of brilliance here and there but the consistency is just not there with this young team. It is difficult to compete with players who are just beginners, minus one. There are also things that have to be played to figure out and cannot be coached, such as the touch that is required around fast greens and how to hit shots that are between clubs…I think there have been strides towards becoming a more experienced and mature golf team.”
