Five tennis players from Marion County were at the state class 1A meet yesterday in Waterloo, however just one was able to post a first round victory. Jordan Roozeboom from Pella defeated his first round opponent Nile Peterson of Atlantic 6-3, 6-4, however Roozeboom was defeated in the quarterfinals by the number one overall seed John Lansing of Cedar Rapids Xavier 6/1 and 6/1. Roozeboom would go on to the consolation round where he would fall to Tanner Finken of Kuemper Catholic to end his tournament run. On the doubles side, Knoxville’s Ben Wallace and R.J. Roberts fell to a team from Atlantic 6/1 and 7/5. Wallace and Roberts moved to the consolation round where their state meet ended with a loss to a duo from Spencer. The Pella doubles team of Carter Briggs and Colton Edwards lost to a team from Spencer, and then ended their meet run with a loss in the consolation to a team from Denison.
