Bondurant-Farrar scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to complete a five run rally and beat the Pella High baseball team in its home opener last night, 6-5.

The Little Dutch scored all five of their runs in the third inning to take a 5-1 lead. Drew Hillman led off the inning with a double, and pinch runner Colby Van Gorp scored on a wild pitch. Aaron Downs, who was 4-for-4 in the game, came home on River Baker’s RBI ground out, and Jaden Rolffs, Landon Vander Leest and Gabe Thomas all scored as Pella batted around.

The Bluejays started chipping away in the fourth with a pair of unearned runs, then they got within one in the fifth. After Bondurant-Farrar took the lead in the seventh, Pella loaded the bases with just one out, but a strikeout and pop up to short center ended the rally.

Pella is 0-2 to start the season, and travels to North Polk tonight, while the softball team hosts Lynnville-Sully this evening.
