Going into the Knoxville Raceway night Saturday the question was…who can stop Austin McCarl? Unfortunately, it was the third turn fence as McCarl crashed at mid-point of the 410 A-Main. He was uninjured, but the car was junk. As for the race, Brian Brown made a triumphant return to the Knoxville Raceway after hanging out with the World of Outlaws and other series since early February, winning his first race of 2018 holding off Davey Heskin and Brooke Tatnell. In the 360s, Ryan Roberts won for the first time at Knoxville since 2009 passing Nate Van Haaften with four laps to go to get the win. Roberts told KNIA/KRLS Sports he could see Van Haaften’s handling going away as the race wore on. In the 305s, Eric Bridger graduated from Upper Iowa University on Saturday, and celebrated by dominating the 305 A-Main for his first win of 2018. Becoming the second graduate in the last four years to graduate from high school or college on the same weekend as they won a race at Knoxville. The other one, McKenna Hasse in 2015 won on a Saturday, then graduated from high school the next day. This Saturday the Interstate Racing Association out of Wisconsin comes to race with the 410s and it is Iowa vs. Iowa State night.
