Greenhorn Grazing Workshops will be available this summer for livestock producers who wish to learn more about optimizing forage and production while conserving natural resources, put on by Iowa State Extension and Outreach.

The workshops are held at the Iowa State University McNay Research Farm near Chariton. Joe Sellers with the Iowa State Extension Office tells KNIA/KRLS News the workshops will cover a range of topics, but efficiency on grazing is the overall focus because managing grass properly while also making sure the soil maintains its production takes different techniques and proper knowledge, and educating producers on these techniques can help them grow their production which is a good thing for everyone. The first workshop will take place on May 31st later ones to follow on June 14, July 12, Aug. 30 and Nov. 8. Producers are urged to attend all five meetings for $50, but can attend the individual classes for $15 each. The workshops run from 4:30-9pm.
