Coach Matt Miller said he wanted to see improvement after Thursday’s loss to Winterset, and for the most part he got what he was asking for as the Panthers rung up their first two victories of the season in a 14-3 and 12-11 sweep of Eddyville-Blakesburg. Kaleb Streigle earned the win in game one going four innings and six strikeouts. Rylan Cox, Jacob Zuck, and Patrick Crawford all had two hits, and Kyle Ramsey went 3/4. Game two had the Panthers sweating it out a bit but never lost the lead in a 12-11 hitters dual. Colton Jones went 2/4 and Zuck kept his eye sharp going 3/4. Carter Bailey got the win going three innings, and Cox earned the save. Knoxville is now 2-3 on the season and 2-0 in the South Central Conference.
