May is School Board Recognition Month, an opportunity for communities to honor the more than 2,000 school board members elected in Iowa.

Knoxville Community School District Superintendent Cassi Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News she wants the public to see all of the work that goes on behind the scenes by the school board because it is a completely voluntary position that requires you to soak up a lot of knowledge and that this board has very willing and able to learn what they need to learn. Knoxville School Board members are President Andrew Schmidt, Vice President Larissa VanDonselaar, Vickie Reed, Marty Duffy, and Larry Scott.
