The State Boys Tennis Meet begins today with the individual tournament at Byrnes Park in Waterloo. Knoxville is represented with the doubles team of Ben Wallace and R.J. Roberts. Coach Greg Higginbotham tells KNIA/KRLS Sports what has helped Roberts and Wallace is R.J.’s confidence after his singles matches. While the boys get ready to play today, the girls have a few days to prepare for their first round opponents. Knoxville’s Alex Griggs has drawn the toughest first round opponent as she is seeded 16th and will take on the number seed Yana Gaskell of Fairfield. Knoxville’s Coach Nick DeMoss tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, they are planning to be a factor. The 1A girls state meet begins Wednesday also at Byrnes Park in Waterloo.
